Easter / Worry

Hello Friends,

This week the Lord’s church is celebrating the central event in God’s plan for his people, Christ’s resurrection. This is important to us as Christians for so many reasons.

Why did so many believe Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God? It was because they had seen Jesus resurrected! That combined with all they had seen and heard during his ministry, and even during his crucifixion convinced the people of that day to put their trust in him. We should, too.

The resurrection also instills in us the confidence that God is in control of life and death. We have the sure promise that because He lives, we shall live also. None of us look forward to death, for we were not created to die! But the curse of sin has taken over this world. However, the Christ’s resurrection is our reminder that Jesus has conquered death and the grave. And just as he was brought back to life, so shall we arise from our graves when He returns to take us to our everlasting home.

How can we not celebrate this glorious event? Not just Easter Sunday, but every Sunday!

I thought I’d also share a thought with you that really grabbed hold of me as I was doing some personal study this week. I’ve been going through a study on worry and came across a point that I hadn’t heard before that really made an impression.

It seems that the things that we worry about are things that belong to us. Most of us don’t spend much time worrying about our neighbor’s possessions, their future, their health, etc., because they’re not ours. We worry about our stuff, our future, our health.

But if we truly believe that as a Christian everything belongs to God, and we are just stewards, then we shouldn’t need to worry about His stuff. Our responsibility is to take care of whatever he’s given us in a way that will advance His kingdom, not ours! If we catch ourselves worrying about anything, maybe it’s time to look inside and ask if we’re trying to possess God’s possessions?

Hope to see all of you who are able as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection this Sunday.

To God be the glory,

Tim
